TechOlympics is Cincinnati's premiere high school technology competition and expo. Every year, hundreds of kids come to the Millennium Hotel in downtown Cincinnati to network with professionals, learn about the latest tech trends, and represent their school while competing against other schools in programming, robotics, networking, design, and more.
I've been a part of this event for the past 6 years in some capacity, whether it be event creative director, session speaker, competition coordinator, designer, developer, animator, music composer, and more. It's always a blast and I'm proud to be involved.
This year was a ton of fun. I handled almost all of the creative (logo, tshirts, banners, signage, programs, website theming, etc.) as well as ran some design competitions. The logo itself was one of the more complex creative pieces I've worked on, due to the hundreds of custom robot illustrations that make up the final product.
I was also asked to create the event countdown video and accompanying music, which is shown at the beginning of every day of the event. I hadn't done any serious animation in a while so this proved to be a bit of a challenge. I'm glad I did it because seeing it on the giant screens and hearing it through the house speakers was very rewarding.
